A great gallery of work by one of Canada’s best wire shooters, Andy Clark of Reuters, of daily life in Vancouver, the host city of the upcoming 2010 Olympics.
Been here for about two weeks now, mainly getting myself oriented, playing tourist, meeting a few foreign and local photographers and researching a couple story ideas. Been trying to stay off the computer as much as possible. So just one for now.

This is what I spend most of my time doing. Traffic!
(I’m staying in a suburb in the south of Cairo, and to get downtown can take up to an hour, with clear roads would take 15 minutes. I’ve paid anywhere from 17LE – 25LE [about $3 - $5 CDN], as there is no set prices for anything, and its just a matter of your negotiation skills.
Until I get a chance to edit some more stuff. Goodnight.
The first couple days of Egyptian food caught up to me today. Will spare you the details, but did spend much of my day on the toilet.
Was hoping to get out and about after spending much of the weekend, (here, the weekend is Friday/Saturday), hanging around, getting acclimatized, hooking up a local mobile, and planning things for the next couple days, but was afraid to wonder far from where I’m staying in the Ma’adi area of Cairo.
Not wanting to completely waste the day, ended up meeting up with a couple local photographers, as well as photo-shopping a wedding I shot a month or so ago in Moosehorn, Manitoba.
(Andrew Briscoe, a Royal Canadian Mounted Police officer, and one of my college roommates from Loyalist College, got married to his fiance Denise, a former employee of the local CO-OP in Ashern, where Andrew was first posted, back in August).
Here are some frames.

And one of Briscoe and I ‘framing it up’

Headed to the Canadian embassy tomorrow to do some paperwork, and hopefully will have a chance to get out into the city afterwards, will let you know.
Cheers
Got a local number today.

The workshop blew my mind.
It changed the way I approach finding and telling stories. And more then anything meet some amazing people, (subjects and photogs).
Will post photos when I get a chance.
After the workshop, flew from the US to Switzerland (spent 2 nights visiting friends in Zurich and Geneva), stopped in Greece for an hour and am now on the ground in Egypt.
Will be here for a month.
Will have my Canadian mobile on until I get a local number. If anyone needs anything from the region let me know.
Cheers
In Festus, Missouri for the Missouri Photo Workshop
Shot a wedding last month near Picton, Ontario at the Waring House. Pam and Stu live in Australia, but Pam grew up in the area, so came home to get married, (she randomly found me on the web, and I’m very thankful for her trust in my photography, especially seeing that we meet for the first time the morning of). It was very laid back, and easy to fade into the background as they have been together for almost a decade and have two children together. I had a great time. Here are some of the photos I shot during the 10 hours I spent with them.

Yesterday was my first day off, after working 14 long days in a row.
Did some overdue vegging yesterday, and am now trying to catch-up, stay tuned.
Cheers.
Back in Ottawa after a week in Manitoba.
I’ve yet to, (and don’t think I will), jump on the Twitter band wagon, but came across a Twitter feed that I’ve been following for a couple days, and thought I’d pass along the link.
USA Today staff photographer Jack Gruber is in Afganistan covering the upcoming elections.
Enjoy.
